The Western Association of Schools and Colleges has restored full accreditation for Guam schools, following an announcement earlier this week that accreditation had been terminated.

Guam Department of Education spokesperson Damen Michael Borja said that termination stemmed from an outstanding purchase order payment from the 2024-25 school year.

GDOE officials worked with WASC and took care of the payment on Monday.

"We inherited this issue, and we took it on directly by reviewing the invoices, correcting the billing errors, and staying in constant communication with WASC,” Superintendent Judith Won Pat stated in a news release. “I'm grateful for their confirmation that our accreditation is continuous, and our focus remains on making sure our schools and students are never adversely affected."

In written confirmation to the department, WASC stated that there was no break in membership in good standing and that accreditation is considered continuous.

All GDOE schools remain accredited through school year 2029.
