A bill signed into law by acting Gov. Josh Tenorio on Aug. 18, 2025, implements mandatory trash collection for Guam residents.

Guam Solid Waste Authority customers can expect higher bills beginning this month, as the Public Utilities Commission raised rates for residential trash collection.

Residential trash collection will now cost $38 a month, up from $35 a month. The host premium charge is 36 cents, so the total bill for most households will be $38.36.

The host premium charge is used to fund projects in Ordot-Chalan Pago and Inalahan, villages that host Solid Waste facilities.

For residents who have an additional trash cart, the extra fee remains at $15, so the total monthly bill will be $53.36.

Guam Solid Waste says the additional money will be used to support the agency’s programs and address operational and capital needs, including landfill costs, equipment repair and replacement and rising costs associated with solid waste operations.
