The CNMI Department of Public Safety is investigating human remains found in an advanced state of decomposition at a farm near the Roberto Compound along Airport Road in Saipan early Monday morning.
DPS officers responded to the report and opened an investigation, but as of Tuesday the agency had not released any information about the individual or how long the remains may have been at the site.
According to DPS Commissioner Anthony Macaranas the case is still in the early stages of the investigation and officis have no information to release yet.
The Department of Fire and Emergency Medical Services said its personnel also responded to the scene. However, public information officer Rob Mojica declined to provide additional details noting that DPS is handling the case.
Authorities have not said whether foul play is suspected. The investigation remains ongoing.
