Guam Gov. Lou Leon Guerrero has called the Legislature into special session to authorize the immediate award of a contract for the Simon Sanchez High School project.
In a video message released Monday, the governor said the community has been waiting 13 years for the project to begin.
“The time has come to decide whether we are finally going to build Simon Sanches High School or whether we are going to allow this project to die one delay at a time,” she said.
Bill 314-38, which lawmakers will consider, states that the school’s construction is a critical public infrastructure project needed to provide a safe, stable and adequate educational environment.
It would allow construction to proceed even with a pending protest or appeal.
Session begins at 9 a.m. at the Guam Congress Building.
