A demolition and groundbreaking ceremony for the new Simon Sanchez High School in Yigo will be held at 11 a.m. Nov. 24.
The office of the governor announced Sunday that the project, which has been awarded to Core Tech International, will begin with the full demolition of the existing campus.
The new campus will feature 87 classrooms along with a new administration building and main entrance.
“This has been a long time coming, and I am proud that our administration is the one making real, tangible progress for the Sharks community. The students of Simon Sanchez deserve a campus that reflects their spirit, talent, and potential. This groundbreaking is our promise turning into action,” Gov. Lou Leon Guerrero said in the announcement about the groundbreaking.
The new campus will feature a network of covered walkways and a central courtyard, a full-sized gymnasium and a spacious cafeteria.
It will also have a dedicated JROTC classroom a new auditorium for performances, ceremonies and the arts.
The new Simon Sanchez High School will accommodate up to 2,000 students.
