Guam Power Authority is continuing negotiations about compensation for Ukudu Power Plant commissioning delays.

The Guam Power authority is continuing negotiations with Guam Ukudu Power about compensation for delays in the commissioning of the new power plant.

The plant was supposed to be commissioned on Sept. 30, but one of three gas turbines was damaged. While some repairs could be made on island, a rotor had to be sent to the manufacturer in Sweden and is expected to return to Guam by the end of the month.

In an announcement on Monday, GPA said discussions are ongoing to determine the process and timing of modifications to the other gas turbine generators.

Officials want to prevent future problems and ensure reliability after commissioning.

GPA officials previously said commissioning of the 198-megawatt plant, which is currently providing 124 megawatts of power, could be delayed until December.
