The CNMI will receive more than $32 million in EPA funding for landfill, recycling and waste management improvements aimed at strengthening environmental infrastructure and creating new jobs.

Cabras Marine has agreed to build new hazardous waste storage units and inspect the facility at least twice a month, according to EPA.

The waste transfer station opened in 1984, and through the years served as a typhoon debris staging area, and a site for hazardous household waste, garbage, tires and private recycling operations
