As the CNMI readies its $40 million Disaster Nutrition Assistance Program, residents are questioning why federal income rules remain so tight for families still struggling after Super Typhoon Sinlaku.

“Help is on the way,” Del. Kimberlyn King‑Hinds said Tuesday as USDA approved expanded NAP benefits and Disaster NAP for typhoon‑affected households, part of a $40 million food assistance package.

As the CNMI pushes for federal approval of D‑NAP, officials say the program could help families still recovering from the food losses caused by Sinlaku’s prolonged outages.
