A group of high school students rallied near the Governor’s Office on Monday, urging CNMI leaders to restore full funding for the Public School System (PSS) after lawmakers proposed deep budget cuts for fiscal year 2026.

Facing a severe budget shortfall for FY 2026, Education Commissioner Lawrence F. Camacho is preparing emergency measures for the CNMI Public School System, including furloughs, reduced instructional days, and school consolidations.

A former employee of the Public School System (PSS) and her mother were arrested Friday following a federal indictment for allegedly stealing tens of thousands of dollars in grant money.
