Guam’s monthly visitor arrivals continue to drop, with September arrivals down 30.9% from September of last year.
The biggest decline came from South Korea, which was down 51.5% from September 2025. The number of visitors from Japan declined 18.6%.
Total civilian air arrivals for September were 39,354, down from 56,973 last year.
During the Guam Visitors Bureau board of directors meeting last week, officials said fiscal 2026 arrivals were down 5.6%, and the number of visitors from Japan went up by 3.1%.
The bureau noted that the year was especially difficult, with Typhoons Sinlaku and Bavi before September, and Champi in October. Arrivals had been trending up year-over-year at the beginning of the fiscal year, but began dropping in April, the month Sinlaku hit the Marianas.
Guam also had fewer airline seats from South Korea and Japan this year, and unfavorable exchange rates, the Iran war and higher fuel surcharges drove up the cost of travel.
