The Guam Department of Labor and Guam Community College have extended the application deadline for the In-School Youth Year-Round Program to Oct. 30, following disruptions caused by Typhoon Champi.
The previous deadline was Oct. 24. The extension gives students and families additional time to complete and submit applications.
The program offers eligible 11th-grade students professional development, communications, customer service, and leadership training, along with paid employment opportunities. It has also expanded to include students enrolled in GCC’s Career and Technical Education program.
Participants take part in a two-week winter session and a one-week spring session before completing six weeks of paid summer employment with private-sector employers in fields or industries that interest them. All sessions provide a stipend.
To qualify, students must be in the 11th grade or be part of the GCC Career and Technical Education program and meet other program eligibility requirements.
Interested students can apply online at bit.ly/inschoolyouth or contact their school counselor for more information.
