The Guam Power Authority reported that 70% of the island’s distribution feeders and circuits were energized or partially energized Monday morning following Typhoon Champi.
According to GPA’s latest power restoration update, 90% of transmission lines have been restored, and all 30 critical substations are energized.
GPA reported that 47 of the island’s 67 distribution feeders and circuits are energized or partially energized. GPA also said current power generation is adequate, with no generation capacity shortage anticipated.
Crews are working 12- to-16 hour shifts to restore service. Monday’s priorities include repairing distribution lines and feeders in villages, addressing generators serving water wells and wastewater facilities, and restoring power to other critical infrastructure.
GPA cautions that some customers may remain without electricity even in areas where nearby customers have service. Damage to individual lines can leave isolated customers without power. Crews will return to those customers after restoring other feeders without faults.
Residents should stay away from downed power lines and electrical equipment, which may remain energized and pose a life-threatening hazard. To report downed power lines or emergency power issues, call GPA Trouble Dispatch at (671) 475-1472, 1473, or 1474.
For non-emergency power issues or service restoration inquiries, contact GPA’s Customer Call Center at (671) 647-5787, 5788 or 5789.
The call center is operating 24 hours a day throughout the recovery period.
GPA said it will continue providing daily updates as restoration efforts progress.
