The Guam Police Department and the Office of the Attorney General are asking for information from the public as they investigate the death of murder suspect Nicholas Wayne Moore.

Moore’s attorney, Mike Phillips, issued a statement Wednesday.

“Nicholas was found early this morning in his bedroom. It was clear at that time Nicholas passed away. At this time his passing is being investigated and the cause of death remains unknown,” Phillips said.

He said the family is working with investigators.

Moore was charged in the 2020 killing of Michael Jose Castro, whose car was found in the compound of Unitek Environmental, a company run by Moore’s father.

Moore was also charged in a separate 2020 Agana Heights shooting that sent a man to the hospital. After numerous delays, a mistrial was declared in that case in 2023.

He had also been indicted in a criminal sexual conduct case involving a girl under the age of 16.

“We are shocked by Nicholas’ passing and just met with him yesterday,” Phillips said. “We mourn Nicholas’ passing and look forward to receiving information regarding the cause of death.”

On Wednesday, police and Attorney General Douglas Moylan issued a statement saying they were investigating the circumstances surrounding the death.

“Because this remains an active investigation, authorities are limiting the release of additional information at this time to protect the integrity of the investigation,” the statement said. “We specifically ask that anyone who has information as to the circumstances leading up to Mr. Nicholas Moore’s untimely death please come forward to speak with a GPD Criminal Investigation Division detective.”
