The U.S. Postal Service has announced that longer delivery times can be expected for items shipped between Pacific territories and the mainland United States.
The Postal Service says customers should expect Priority Mail packages to or from Guam, the Northern Marianas and the Freely Associated States to take between two and six days.
Previously, the expectation was three days.
USPS Ground Advantage packages weighing under a pound were previously sent by air and surface transport. Now, all Ground Advantage packages will be primarily sent by ship, regardless of weight.
Packages sent by Ground Advantage will take 10 days or more to get to their destinations, and the Postal Service says some packages will take significantly longer than 10 days.
The new guidelines went into effect on Oct. 1.
