Cost-U-Less is opening its new flagship hagåtña location on Aug. 28, giving customers a larger store with expanded fresh food, grocery, and household selections. Matt Johnson, vice president of merchandising with Northwest Company International, said the company invested additional space in areas that reflect changing customer needs. “The needs of the community have evolved to more fresh foods, more grab-and-go convenient foods, and meal solutions to help busy families,” Johnson said.

The store features a large bakery, fresh produce, fresh-cut fruit, frozen foods, and an expanded meat department. The meat section includes beef, pork, turkey, chicken, lamb, and specialty meats, including grass-fed beef. Customers will also find a hot deli with rotisserie chickens, hot gourmet meals, and ready-to-eat options. The new store also expands Cost-U-Less’ selection beyond groceries, with home goods, premium liquor, beer and wine, as well as other general merchandise.

The grand opening is scheduled for 8 a.m. Friday, Aug. 28.

The opening celebration will include a ribbon-cutting and store blessing, along with live music, customer giveaways, and food and drink sampling.

The celebration will continue throughout the weekend. The first 50 customers each day will receive a free case of water.

The new Hagåtña store adds to Cost-U-Less’ existing presence in Dededo, where the company completed renovations to its location a little more than a year ago. The company announced that the Tamuning location will close permanently once the Hagåtña location opens.
