Select members of the Guam Air National Guard have been sent to support Operation Inherent Resolve in the Middle East and Operation Southern Spear in the Eastern Pacific and Caribbean Sea.
Guam National Guard Adjutant General Brig. Gen Karin Watson told the deploying airmen: "We train for days like this. We sweat, we sacrifice, and we push through the grueling hours so that when the call comes, we don’t hesitate. Well, that call has come. Trust your training, trust your faith, trust in your own abilities, trust your leadership, and always look out for your wingman."
“Do your jobs with excellence, represent our island of Guam with honor, and bring yourselves and each other home safely," she said.
She also thanked the families of Guam Guard members.
Operation Inherent Resolve began in 2014 to combat terrorist operations in Syria and Iraq. Operation Southern Spear began in 2025 to conduct counter-narcotics operations.
