The Guam Power Authority, which temporarily suspended service disconnections in July because of Super Typhoon Bavi, announced that disconnections have resumed.
While disconnections were suspended, customers’ electricity charges continued to be applied to their accounts as service was restored, according to GPA.
Customers weren’t charged for electricity when power was out. The temporary suspension provided more time before service was disconnected, but it did not suspend billing or the cost of electricity consumed.
GPA also says power bills have increased because the Fuel Recovery Charge, which makes up the largest part of customer bills, went up on July 1.
The Fuel Recovery Charge is a pass-through charge used to make up for fluctuating prices of oil and other fuels used to generate electricity.
