The Guam Legislature is scheduled to go into special session Thursday morning to discuss appropriations for Typhoon Bavi recovery, child care stabilization funding and financial needs of the Guam International Airport Authority.
Gov. Lou Leon Guerrero introduced Bill 1 (9-S) to provide $13.4 million for Super Typhoon Bavi emergency response.
In addition to covering storm preparation costs, overtime and hazard pay, the bill notes that individual assistance, supported by survey and damage assessment, will also be authorized by the legislation.
The governor also wants to appropriate $11.4 million to cover child care subsidy payments following delays in federal funding reimbursement.
The bill also includes $8.4 million for the airport to cover fiscal 2026 airport revenues and $9.3 million for prior-year aviation fuel tax obligations.
