A Guam Police Department officer has been placed on administrative leave following a fatal crash over the weekend, GPD spokesperson Norman Analista said.
At 2 a.m. Saturday, the police officer was parked near the entrance of American Grocery in Yigo. The officer drove onto Route 1 to respond to a disturbance call and collided with a motorcycle that was headed toward the officer in the same lane.
The motorcycle driver, who has not been identified, was taken to Guam Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 2:15 a.m.
Officers with Guam Highway Patrol Division are investigating the crash.
