Residents in Guam and the Northern Marianas will likely notice increased military activity in the coming weeks, as the Valiant Shield 2026 military exercise takes place throughout the region.

Guam International Airport Authority has been designated a support location for the exercises, which will continue until July 2.

Airport officials say there will be more military air activity and associated noise around the airport during the exercise.

Commercial air operations will not be affected.

In the Northern Marianas, residents might notice bright lights overnight in the Marpi and Forbidden Island areas. Officials say the lights are part of the exercise and will be removed in early July.
