Guam Visitors Bureau is estimating between 775,000 and 1.1 million tourists will travel to the island in the next fiscal year.
GVB President Régine Biscoe Lee presented the forecast to the legislature’s Special Economic Services meeting on Wednesday.
The projections include a conservative estimate of 774,964, a moderate estimate of 934,567 and an optimistic outlook of 1,109,562 for fiscal 2027.
If the forecasts hold true, they will be between 5% and 13% higher than projections for this year.
Fiscal 2026 arrivals, from October through March, generally tracked near the moderate forecast, with an uptick in December, Biscoe Lee said.
“Then a downturn in April following Super Typhoon Sinlaku and some fuel surcharge issues,” she said. “Also many flights were canceled during that week of the typhoon.”
Biscoe Lee said some airlines that had suspended flights plan to resume them in July and August.
She said the 2027 forecast is based on available information, “and we revisit these numbers every quarter.”
Biscoe Lee said one of the bureau’s signature events disrupted by Sinlaku, the Guam Micronesia Island Fair, has been rescheduled for Oct. 24 through 26.
