The U.S. Small Business Administration reported that, as of June 4, a total of 839 full disaster loan applications have been submitted following Typhoon Sinlaku. Of those, 688 applications came from homeowners, 138 from businesses, and 13 for Economic Injury Disaster Loans.
Approved loan amounts now total $9 million. Home loans account for $8.8 million of that figure, while business approvals stand at $81,800 and EIDL approvals at $85,200.
SBA Public Affairs Specialist Raenada Mason said the agency continues to see strong demand from households, while business participation remains comparatively low. She said the SBA’s expanded presence on Saipan is intended to make the process easier for applicants who need in‑person guidance or have questions about documentation, eligibility, or reconsideration.
To improve access, the Business One Stop Permitting Center in Capitol Hill—one of SBA’s three recovery locations on Saipan—has shifted its opening time from 8:30 a.m. to 8 a.m. The center will continue operating Monday through Friday until 4 p.m.
Mason said the earlier start time is meant to accommodate businesses and residents who may be balancing work schedules, transportation challenges, or other recovery‑related demands.
Applicants may still apply online at sba.gov/disaster or contact SBA’s customer service line at 1‑800‑659‑2955 for assistance. The deadline to apply for physical damage loans remains June 22, while the deadline for economic injury loans is January 25, 2027.
