Don’t be alarmed if you see an increased military presence around Apra Harbor this week. Naval Base Guam is participating in an exercise called Citadel Protect 2026 through Friday.

Navy officials say people near the harbor, the main base and Polaris Point might hear blank ammunition fire as part of simulated attacks throughout the week.

The base’s speaker system will be activated, and residents will also hear announcements related to the exercise.

There is a possibility of increased patrols and security activity as a result of the training.

While measures have been taken to minimize disruptions, the exercise may cause increased traffic and delay base access.

The exercise is not being conducted in response to a specific threat. It incorporates training scenarios that replicate real-world events and is designed to enhance security readiness.
