Guam Archbishop Ryan P. Jimenez will welcome visiting bishops and other representatives from the Federation of Catholic Bishops’ Conferences of Oceania as the group holds its Executive Committee Meeting on Guam Monday through Wednesday.
Representatives from the four Episcopal Conferences of Oceania that make up the federation began arriving on Guam this weekend.
They will join Archbishop Jimenez, Archdiocese of Agaña Vicar General Father Paul Gofigan, other clergy with religious sisters and Catholics in an islandwide celebration of the Holy Eucharist 6 p.m. Tuesday at the Dulce Nombre de Maria Cathedral-Basilica in Hagatña.
Jimenez automatically became the president of the federation on May 8 after former President Archbishop Anthony Randazzo of Broken Bay, Australia, relinquished the position to focus on his new appointment by Pope Leo XIV as Prefect of the Dicastery for Legislative Texts.
Jimenez was the vice president and automatically assumed the president’s post in accordance with federation statutes.
He is also the President of the Episcopal Conference of the Pacific.
