The Saipan Mayor’s Office says it is ready to assist residents who lost essential documents during Typhoon Sinlaku, offering affidavits and residency certifications to help families access federal and local recovery programs.
Mayor Ramon “RB” Camacho said his office is prepared to verify residency for storm‑affected households whose records were damaged or destroyed during the typhoon.
“I can attest, you know, if they really indeed stay in that house. So I have no problem to sign a document so they can avail themselves of whatever assistance is available,” Camacho said. “All I want to see is the community restored.”
Camacho urged residents to be truthful when requesting residency certifications or affidavits, emphasizing that the process depends on honesty and accurate information.
“All I need from the community is to be upfront and tell me the truth, because I’m ready to sign documents,” he said. “Please, let’s not circumvent the document. You want help, be honest on the application, and the mayor stands ready to attest.”
The Mayor’s Office has been assisting residents across Saipan who lost identification cards, proof of address, or other paperwork needed for FEMA and CNMI recovery programs. Staff are helping walk‑ins daily as the island continues to rebuild from the widespread damage caused by Typhoon Sinlaku.
