Guam recorded its second traffic fatality of the year over the weekend, according to Guam Police Department spokesman Norman Analista.

Christopher J. L. Robinson II, 31, a civilian mariner serving on the USS Frank Cable, was killed in a traffic crash involving an SUV and a garbage truck early Saturday.

Analista said Robinson was a passenger in the SUV, which crashed into the back of the garbage truck on Route 1 by the Tamuning McDonald’s.

The driver of the SUV was taken to Guam Regional Medical City and treated for injuries. Robinson was taken to Guam Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Guam's first traffic fatality of the year was recorded on Jan. 24, when motorcycle operator Sonny Carl Laguana Vasques, 52, was killed in a crash in Dededo.
