Guam Gov. Lou Leon Guerrero joined governors from Delaware, Mississippi and Utah on a panel about attracting investors during the SelectUSA Summit in National Harbor, Maryland, on May 5, 2026.

Gov. Lou Leon Guerrero is leading Guam’s delegation at the 2026 SelectUSA Investment Summit, hosted by the U.S. Department of Commerce, which is the federal government’s premier event for promoting investment in the United States and its territories.

This year’s summit drew thousands of participants, including investors from more than 100 countries and economic development organizations representing all U.S. states and territories. Since its launch in 2011, the program has facilitated more than $256 billion in investment nationwide.

At the summit, the Guam Economic Development Authority (GEDA) is staffing an exhibition booth to promote the island’s business incentives and strategic location in the Indo-Pacific. Officials say Guam’s position as a U.S. territory and its proximity to Asian markets continue to be key selling points for investors.

According to a release from the Office of the Governor, Leon Guerrero held meetings with prospective investors in several high-growth sectors, with a focus on drone operations, data centers, and artificial intelligence (AI).

Discussions on drone operations centered on Guam’s potential as a hub for unmanned aerial systems, including testing, logistics, and commercial applications, supported by its airspace and regional location.

Talks on data centers highlighted Guam’s role in transpacific communications, with multiple undersea cables connecting the island to Asia and the mainland United States. Officials say this infrastructure positions Guam as a potential site for expanded digital storage and data processing facilities.

The governor also met with investors in the artificial intelligence sector to explore opportunities for developing computing infrastructure and potential research partnerships tied to AI technologies.

Officials say the meetings are part of ongoing efforts to diversify Guam’s economy beyond tourism and federal spending, and to attract private investment in technology and digital industries.
