A U.S. Coast Guard HC-130 Hercules airplane crew assigned to Coast Guard Air Station Barbers Point flies over an overturned vessel offshore Saipan, April 18, 2026.

The U.S. Coast Guard is continuing to search for the crew of the cargo vessel Mariana, which was lost offshore of Saipan last week.

Over the weekend the overturned vessel was found about 40 miles from Pagan.

On Monday, an airplane crew found a debris field and a partially submerged, partially inflated life raft about 110 miles from where the vessel was sighted.

Divers, boats and rescue teams have been sent to the vessel, but the six crewmembers have not been located.

If divers are able to find an access point, they may deploy an underwater drone to investigate the vessel.

The Coast Guard, Air Force, Navy, and military units from Japan and New Zealand have search 75,000 square nautical miles.
