National Weather Service forecasters said the inner eyewall of "extremely dangerous Super Typhoon Sinlaku" was 30 miles from Saipan and Tinian at 1 p.m. Tuesday.
Wind speed was 155 mph.
The storm was located at 14.5 degrees north latitude and 146.2 degrees east longitude. Sinlaku was heading northwest at 9 mph.
The National Weather Service reported that Saipan has measured gusts over 100 mph, and Guam was seeing gusts to around 65 mph.
