Governor Lou Leon Guerrero has issued Executive Order No. 2026-02, providing temporary tax relief for residents and businesses in anticipation of the impacts of Super Typhoon Sinlaku.
The executive order allows for extensions on the filing and payment of several taxes, including income tax, business privilege tax, and property tax, as the island prepares for severe weather conditions that could disrupt normal operations.
According to government officials, the measure is intended to ease financial pressure and give taxpayers additional time to meet their obligations while prioritizing safety and storm preparedness.
Officials say the relief comes as Guam transitions into higher readiness conditions, with damaging winds and hazardous conditions expected. Government offices and businesses may experience closures or limited operations, making it difficult for individuals to meet upcoming tax deadlines.
Residents and business owners are encouraged to stay informed on updated filing deadlines and guidance, which will be announced by the appropriate government agencies.
The executive order was transmitted to the Guam Legislature on Monday and takes effect as the island prepares for the approaching storm.
