The Guam Visitors Bureau is gearing up to host its 2026 Ko’ko’ Road Race weekend, bringing together local and international runners for one of Guam’s premier sports tourism events.

Ko’ko’ weekend kicks off with packet pickup scheduled for Friday and Saturday, followed by the Ko’ko’ Kids Fun Run on Saturday morning at Ypao Beach Park. The family-friendly event features races for children ages 4 to 12, along with cultural activities for participants and spectators.

Sunday marks the main race events, starting with the half-marathon at 5 a.m. The course begins in Tumon, through Tamuning, Hagåtña, and Asan before returning to the finish line. The Ekiden relay race follows at 5:30 a.m., with more than 100 teams expected to compete in the popular team-based event.

Beyond competition, the Ko’ko’ Road Race continues to serve a larger purpose, raising awareness for Guam’s endangered ko’ko’ bird. Proceeds from the event support conservation efforts aimed at restoring the native species.

Senior Destination Specialist Kraig Camacho says funds raised will directly assist conservation initiatives.

“I am proud to say we will be working closely on procuring incubators, chicken wire fencing, and as well as feed,” Camacho said.

This year’s event is expected to draw a record number of international participants, with more than 700 runners traveling from Japan, Korea, Taiwan, and the Philippines.

Organizers estimate the event will generate over $1.3 million in visitor spending.
