CNMI Associate Justice Perry B. Inos has resigned from the Commonwealth Supreme Court, ending his term several years before its scheduled expiration.
The Judiciary announced his departure this week, noting his substantial contributions to the development of the law and the administration of the courts. No additional details were provided on why he stepped down.
Inos was retained by voters in 2020 and was not due for another retention election until 2028. His resignation creates a vacancy on the three‑member high court.
Before joining the Supreme Court in 2013, Inos served as a judge on the CNMI Superior Court.
Gov. David M. Apatang must appoint a replacement, subject to Senate confirmation. The administration has not released a timeline for the nomination.
Chief Justice Alexandro C. Castro acknowledged Inos’ resignation and years of service on the bench, noting his “strong collaboration and leadership skills in areas of court administration, and his commitment to the rule of law.”
Inos’ resignation took effect immediately.
