Let’s work together. Let’s partner up for the betterment of the community.
That’s the message from Saipan Mayor Ramon “RB” Camacho, who has announced he will seek a second four‑year term. Camacho said he wants to continue the public safety and community‑based initiatives that have defined his first three years in office.
The mayor says encouragement from his family, campaign committee and residents led him to run again.
“If the people give me this chance for a second term, I’ll continue promoting a safe community, a safe village and a clean island,” Camacho said.
He points to crime prevention, village maintenance and partnerships with nonprofits and businesses as priorities. Camacho says concerns raised by visiting Japanese officials about crime have reinforced his push for stronger community policing and public awareness campaigns.
He cites his partnership with the Department of Public Safety and its “See Something, Say Something, Do Something” initiative.
“We’re working hand in hand,” Camacho said. “The community is really coming forward because they see it’s a good campaign and they’re willing to join.”
He urged residents to report suspicious activity and to work together to keep neighborhoods safe.
“Let’s all partner up, let’s work together, and let’s be team players to police up our island,” he said. “Let’s remove this fear by working together.”
Camacho’s public service career spans decades. He served 20 years with the Department of Public Safety, 17 years on the Parole Board, and three terms on the Saipan and Northern Islands Municipal Council. He helped establish the Leadership Courtyard in Chalan Kanoa and worked to build the farmers market. He has also led the Sabalu Farmers Association for 20 years and chaired the Farm Service Agency for 13 years.
“With the pressing issues we have, it’s a time to embrace and work together so we can brainstorm what’s best for us to move forward,” he added..
