The Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands has resumed full November Nutrition Assistance Program benefits for eligible households across Saipan, Tinian, Rota and the Northern Islands.
On Friday, Gov. David M. Apatang announced that the restoration follows full funding authorization from the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food and Nutrition Service, allowing NAP to resume normal benefit levels.
The USDA had previously directed a halt to November NAP payments due to the federal government shutdown that began Oct. 1.
The suspension came at a critical time, coinciding with the rollout of CNMI’s electronic benefit transfer system, which was designed to modernize food assistance delivery.
Apatang thanked residents for their patience during weeks of uncertainty and praised NAP Administrator Margarita T. Aldan, her team, and federal partners for ensuring timely distribution. Department of Community and Cultural Affairs Secretary Francisco M. Rabauliman also commended the collaborative effort, saying the restoration reflects a shared commitment to supporting families in need.
Recipients are encouraged to confirm their November benefits through the EBT portal at www.cnminap.gov.mp or contact local NAP offices for assistance: Saipan (670) 237-2800, Tinian (670) 433-9330, and Rota (670) 532-9354.
