The official seal of Guam is surrounded by a collection of framed historical images inside Hagåtña's Congress Building.

Senators are scheduled to hear testimony today on bill that would extend and stagger terms for members of the Guam Board of Education.

Bill 201-38, introduced by Sen. Vincent Borja, seeks to reduce frequent turnover of board members and ensure consistent leadership for Guam’s public school system.

The board is made up of nine voting members, with six elected for three-year terms and three appointed by the governor for three-year terms.

There are also three non-voting members who would not be affected by the bill.

The bill would change the length of terms to four years, with staggered elections and appointments.

The hearing will take place at 2 p.m. at the Guam Congress Building.
