Results from two weeks of samples from a Yigo well show no traces of dieldrin in the drinking water.
Guam Waterworks Authority reported Wednesday that the intermediate treatment system being used in well Y-15 is removing the pesticide from the water.
Weekly samples are being collected and sent off-island for analysis.
If two more consecutive samples yield satisfactory results, the Guam Waterworks Authority and Guam Environmental Protection Agency will drop the “Do not drink without Treatment” advisory.
Some Yigo customers received notices about the contamination on Sept. 12, and GWA installed the interim treatment system on Oct. 10.
A permanent treatment system is expected by next summer.
