Guam Visitors Bureau says the island’s tourism industry is achieving good momentum, with year-over-year arrivals increasing each month since June.
GVB management said an increase is also expected in September.
August arrivals were at 80,000 visitors, an increase of 18% from last year. About 30,000 visitors were recorded in the first half of September, a 20% increase over last year.
From January to the first half of September, about 525,000 visitors traveled to Guam, which is 2% lower than last year.
Officials attributed the drop to a reduced number of seats from South Korea, but airline incentives and commitments for increased seat capacity boosted arrivals in the second half of the year.
