Guam lawmakers will hold a joint oversight hearing at 9 a.m. today on the pesticide dieldrin found in Yigo drinking water.
Committees overseeing utilities, environment and infrastructure will be questioning officials from Guam Waterworks Authority, Guam Environmental Protection Agency and the Department of Public Health and Social Services.
On Sept. 12, more than 1,100 GWA customers in parts of Yigo were advised that the pesticide was found in their water.
A temporary treatment system has been installed, and a permanent solution is expected by next summer.
Dieldrin, used to kill termites, has been banned since 1987.
Customers served by the contaminated well were advised not to drink untreated water.
