A road currently named for two U.S. admirals who served in the Pacific during World War II could be renamed to honor Guam survivors of the war.

Senators heard testimony on Wednesday on Bill 170-38, which would designate Route 6 as World War II Survivors Memorial Highway.

The road joins Route 1 in Piti, continues over Nimitz Hill, passes the Asan Bay Overlook Memorial Wall, and connects to Route 1 across from Adelup.

Route 6 is named Spruance Drive in Piti and Halsey Drive in Asan.

The bill was introduced by Speaker Frank Blas Jr.
