Transportation Security Administration officers at Antonio B. Won Pat International Airport discovered an inert grenade during routine screening on Sunday, according to a news release from the agency.

The checkpoint was evacuated and closed temporarily while an explosives specialist confirmed the grenade was a replica and posed no danger.

Although harmless, TSA stated that replicas and inert explosives are strictly prohibited in both carry-on and checked baggage. Such items can cause major security disruptions, delays, and evacuations that impact all travelers.

TSA urges Guam passengers to carefully check their luggage before arriving at the airport. Travelers can use the “What Can I Bring” tool on tsa.gov.
