Sen. Shelly Calvo is encouraging island residents to join the upcoming Civil Legal Needs and Program Priority Conference on Sept. 3 at the Hilton Guam Resort & Spa, Micronesian Room.

The conference, hosted by the Civil Law Center and Elder Justice Center, will bring together community voices, service providers, and advocates to identify the island’s most pressing civil legal needs. Input gathered will help shape Guam’s first Civil Legal Needs report.

“This is a vital opportunity for our community to help shape the future of legal access in Guam,” said Senator Calvo. “Whether you’re a service provider, advocate, or someone with lived experiences, your voice matters.”

The event will feature presentations on new laws authored by Senator Calvo, including Transfer on Death Deeds and the Restaurant Meals Program. Attorney Basil O’Mallan will lead a discussion on those measures, as well as health care directives and consumer rights.

To make the event accessible to elders, the Guam Regional Transit Authority is working with the organizers to provide bus service from senior centers to the Hilton.

Residents interested in participating can register by calling the Civil Law Center and Elder Justice Center at (671) 969-3131.
