Guam recruits delegates for 2025 World Indigenous Traditional Games in Taipei

The Department of Chamorro Affairs and the Council of Indigenous Peoples of Taiwan are looking for delegates to represent Guam at the 2025 World Indigenous Traditional Games, to be held in Taipei, Taiwan from Dec. 7–14, 2025.

The Department of Chamorro Affairs, in collaboration with the Council of Indigenous Peoples of Taiwan, is calling on Guam’s Indigenous community to apply for the 2025 World Indigenous Traditional Games, set to take place in Taipei, Taiwan from Dec. 7-14.

This international gathering brings together Indigenous people from across the globe to celebrate heritage, community, and ancestral skills through a series of traditional sports and cultural performances.

Guam is assembling a 30-member delegation consisting of athletes and cultural performers. All airfare and accommodations will be fully covered for selected participants.

The events include: Traditional archery, traditional music and dance, log sawing, traditional wrestling, net casting, canoe racing, traditional road running, weight carrying relay, freediving sprint (100m), and tug of war.

To be eligible, participants must be of Indigenous heritage. Athletes must be ages 18 or older, and cultural performers must be ages 16 and up. All participants must possess a valid passport by Aug. 29, with expiration beyond the date of departure.

The application deadline is Aug. 7, and the final commitment deadline is Aug. 8.
