The CNMI House Ways and Means Committee recently drafted a bill to allocate over $127 million for government operations in fiscal year 2026.
The draft bill outlines how general revenues will be used for various CNMI government activities.
The committee's chair, Representative John Paul Sablan, stated that the bill isn't finalized, but he hopes to reach a consensus soon so it can be voted on by the full House.
The draft includes a provision that requires the Finance Secretary to submit quarterly reports on fund status and meet with legislative leaders to compare projected versus actual revenue collections.
The bill is expected to go to a full House vote in the coming days.
