Guam lawmakers held an oversight hearing Thursday afternoon to assess the performance and accountability of the Guam International Airport Authority (GIAA).

Chaired by Sen. Jesse Lujan, the hearing focused on key areas including GIAA’s financial health, visitor arrival projections, ongoing capital improvement projects, and alignment with Guam’s tourism goals.

Officials from GIAA provided updates on air service development, efforts to attract new carriers, and partnerships with federal agencies like the Federal Aviation Administration and Transportation Security Administration..

Lawmakers also examined GIAA’s use of federal grants and its long-term planning to support the island’s economic recovery through tourism and expanded flight routes.
