At a Department of Public Safety (DPS) press conference on Monday, Commissioner Anthony Macaranas announced that the department has rehired Pangelinan as public information officer replacing assistant chief of police Simon Manacop, who was previously the acting PIO.
Pangelinan emphasized the importance of community’s support and collaboration in sharing information. He said plans are underway to improve information dissemination through various media channels. They include reinstating weekly crime reports to the media.
“The island is a community and it's all about helping each other, and that’s the only way that we can get things done,” Pangelinan said.
Pangelinan was the DPS PIO from 2019 to 2022.
