Congresswoman Kimberlyn King-Hinds has introduced H.R. 4039 the “Connecting the Northern Mariana Islands through Ferry Services Act,” also known as the “CNMI Ferry Act.

H.R. 4039 seeks to make funding available to build and support essential ferry services in the CNMI.

Kimberlyn King-Hinds says CNMI residents depend on inter-island travel for critical needs including healthcare, education, commerce, and staying connected with family.

The legislative bill aims to open the doors for federal transportation funding to build a safe, dependable, and more affordable ferry system for the island communities.

King-Hinds says the people of the CNMI deserve the same transportation opportunities as every other part of the United States.
