In celebration of Pride Month, Guam’s LGBTQIA+ non-profit GALA hosts its second annual “Together With Pride: Mini Carnival” this Saturday, June 14.
Organized in partnership with the Guam Behavioral Health and Wellness Center and several community sponsors, the event offers entertainment and education in support of LGBTQIA+ visibility and unity.
This year’s theme, “Awareness and acceptance today pave the way for change tomorrow,” highlights the importance of fostering inclusive spaces and celebrating diversity.
Hannah Mendiola, GALA’s program coordinator and committee chairperson, is leading the event’s planning and coordination.
“This is our 2nd year hosting the Together with Pride Carnival. Which would not be possible without the amazing support you received after our first one last June. We are investing in an island community where LGBTQIA+ persons know that they are seen and accepted for who they are. So that even when Pride Month ends, our attendees will be able to recognize support systems and understand that there are people everywhere on this island that care,” she said.
The free, family-friendly event will take place at the University of Guam Fieldhouse in Mangilao from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. ChST.
GALA has been a non-profit, community-based organization founded in Guam in 2008.
