Former Corrections officer admits to inappropriate conduct with a detainee

Aesha Debrum Sablan, a former Saipan Corrections officer, pleaded guilty to engaging in sexual contact with a detainee last week.

The contact occurred between some time in 2022 and approximately February 7, 2024.

Sablan was responsible for overseeing the detainee.

Chief Judge Ramona V. Manglona of the District Court for the NMI accepted Sablan's guilty plea.

Sablan's sentencing is scheduled for October 10, 2025, at 9 a.m.

She has been released on her own recognizance with specific conditions she must follow.

The charges against Sablan carry a maximum penalty of two years in prison, a $250,000 fine, and one year of supervised release.
