Their disappearance sparked a month-long and massive community and law enforcement effort to locate them, first seen in CNMI.
Family members of the missing sisters built a makeshift shrine on the spot where the children were last seen.
On May 25, 2011, sisters Faloma and Maleina Luhk disappeared near a bus stop in As Teo, Saipan, and have never been seen since then.
Faloma and Maleina Luhk, who were ages 10 and 9 at the time of their disappearance, were last seen waiting at a bus stop in Santa Lourdes, As Teo near their home on the morning of May 25, 2011.
Maleina will be 23 and Faloma will be 24 this year.
“We continue to pray for the families,” said CNMI Department of Public Safety Assistant Chief of Police Simon Manacop in a statement to the Pacific Daily News marking the anniversary. “As an open case for 14 years now, we continue to ask anyone who may provide information on the disappearance of Faloma and Maleina. DPS continues to investigate leads or any information in reference to this case.”
According to the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Faloma was last seen wearing a light green shirt with a butterfly design and blue jeans.
Maleina was last seen wearing a white blouse and blue jeans.
The FBI is urging anyone with information to come forward. A reward of up to $25,000 is being offered for tips leading to their whereabouts.
