Guam’s Island Beautification Task Force held its monthly meeting yesterday. Headed by Lieutenant Governor Josh Tenorio, The task force brings together nonprofit groups, village mayors, and many department heads to share updates on efforts to maintain Guam’s public spaces and improve community spaces.
Department of Public Works Director Vince Arriola announced critical road maintenance projects focused on high-risk areas, including “Deadman’s Curve” along Marine Corps Drive in Asan.
Plans include installing road striping, adding rumble strips to slow traffic, and partnering with Guam Police Department officers to enforce speed limits.
Other topics included tackling illegal dumping, enhancing village beautification through maintenance partnerships, and encouraging community involvement in cleanup campaigns, as hosted by Guam Green Growth’s initiative to host a cleanup for every village.
Infrastructure and safety improvements are scheduled to roll out over the coming months.
